It has been a while since I have posted a blog. Not much to report on since my last post other than we won the series this weekend. That is the first series we have won this year I believe. I had a couple good games and one bad. I think I threw out at least one baserunner in each game this weekend. Last night was my favorite. There were men on first and second and they tried to steal, there was a lefty hitter so I had an open lane to throw to third. The pitch was a curveball to the outside half of the plate and the hitter took it and I got up really quick and threw it to third. My teammate at third was one of my teammates with the braves and is probably the best third baseman I have ever seen. He caught it and put the tag on the runner so fast I think if I blinked I would have missed seeing it! But he was out and it was pretty awesome. At the plate I didn't have such a great night. I was 0-3 with 2 k's and a walk. I hit a ball really hard on a line right at the third baseman. That seems to happen a lot to me. I need to figure out a way to hit it between him and the shortstop! Ha, that would be nice! The good news on the hitting is that my timing is much better now because I have gone to my no stride. The one thing that hasn't been working for me yet is my mental approach hitting. I normally look for certain locations and only swing if the pitch is in that location. So far I haven't been able to work on it in bp so I haven't been able to get comfortable with it in games yet. I am going to ask my coach to slow down in bp so I can work on it then to get comfortable with it quicker. That approach is what really helps me the most because it puts me in control of the at bat instead of the pitcher. If you go up there just swinging at whatever then he has you.
After the game last night we rode to El Paso on what turned out to be the worst bus ride ever. We had a sleeper bus which means it had bunks in it for us to "sleep". The reason I say "sleep" is because it was the worst possible conditions for sleeping. That bus was bouncing all over the road throwing me up and down in the bed. I felt like someone was shaking me trying to wake me up the whole time. I probably didn't sleep more than 30 mins. There was also this really annoying noise the whole time too. It sounded like two really big pieces of plastice rubbing and squeaking together. I don't think anybody slept at all! And now we are all sitting in the lobby waiting for our rooms to be ready. Not many happy campers down here right now. I don't really care personally because I don't think I am catching tonight. My manager told me I was getting the day off today and would catch tomorrow so I hope that stays true because the bus ride beat me up!
Hope everyone is still doing great with their seasons. I got an email today about someone hitting another homerun! I'm glad the guys are doing well, hopefully my homers will come sooner than later!
