El Paso Recap

Well I'm back in Amarillo now.  We had a quick little trip to El Paso, playing just three games.  Our game Wednesday was at 10:30 a.m.!!! Way too early for me.  I caught the night before which turned out to be a 4 hour game.  Normally when a catcher catches a long game like that or even a normal game the night before a day game he gets the next day off.  I didn't have to catch but I was DH because one of our guys was hurt so I had to play.  I was hoping I would get out of that 1030 game all together but I didn't!  Ended up being a bad game for me.  Two strike outs looking on two bad calls by the umpire.  My timing was pretty off that game too so that is never fun.  I'm still working on getting that consistent timing down.  Timing is the hardest thing in hitting and usually the last thing to come around.  Just takes time hitting pitchers.  I'm sure it will all fall into place here in a week or so.  The Tuesday night game I felt great.  Baseball can be a weird game.  Feel great one day then not so much the next.  On Tuesday I was 3-6 with a double and one or two RBI.  I can't remember how many I ended up with.  That game was crazy.  The wind was blowing in circles at about 20 mph or harder and any ball hit up high in the air was getting tossed around everywhere.  The score ended up being 23-19 I think.  Not really a baseball score and we lost.  It was a pretty ugly game to say the least.  Hopefully this day off we have Thursday will help us shake off the first couple of games and get on the right track starting on Friday.  I think we are 1-5 right now.  The Red Sox started off this season worse than that and then caught fire which we can easily do.  I really like this team and think we have a lot of good players.

It is getting late here and I am getting sleepy so I think I am going to have to call it a night.  Tomorrow I will have an interesting off day I'm sure so I will fill everyone in on how the "Benji Johnson off day" goes.  They usually are nothing near "off!"
