Tonight was my 5th game played this year. It was a good and a bad night for me. The bad part for me was that I didn't get a hit tonight, 0-4. Two games in a row without a hit now. Kinda funny how I start out each year. This year has started almost exactly the same as last year. Hit some balls hard, don't get hits, then have a couple bad games and then catch fire. I'm waiting on the fire to start tomorrow or the next day. My timing just isn't quite there yet. I am not quite getting my foot down in enough time to get my swing on time with the ball but I will get it soon. I plan to meet our trainer at the field tomorrow at 1:30 for some early work to get my timing on. I want to get it sooner this year than I normally do. Kinda how Mark Texiera wanted to start the season hotter than normal. I plan to also hit some left handed tomorrow as I am toying with the idea of changing to a switch hitter. I have hit some in the cage and looked and felt great so it is a possibility. Not many switch hitting catchers in the majors so it would be a plus for me to be able to do this.
The good that came from tonight's game was my first at bat and my catching. In my first at bat tonight I crushed a ball right at the third baseman. He made the play and threw me out but it felt good and my timing was there. Also, my catching was great. I blocked a ball and got up and threw out the runner on one play. That was awesome! The other good news from tonight is that I know what I need to do tomorrow to get some hits and that is get my foot down sooner! The thing about playing everyday is that you don't have to gauge your game on hits but you can have a positive game by learning something to help you out in the future. Tomorrow I will put to work what I realized tonight and see if I can get everything rolling again! Tomorrow would be a great night to get my first homer of the season! Maybe I can predict my own future here. I am predicting a single to right field and a homer to left center tomorrow. And maybe a grounder up the middle for another single. So 3-4 night and 2 rbis. Hope this comes true! If this year is like last year it will come true because when I got my timing last year I went on a stretch where I was something like 20-35 with about 4 homers. Until tomorrow....
